That very picture is hanging on the wall in our bathroom. We picked it
up, properly framed and all, for a fiver, and it perfrorms the two
vital functions of keeping us amused whilst we soak, and covering up
some rather twee wall tiles put up by the previous owner of two
fully-and decorously-clad romanesque ladies in a romanesque bath.
The book's fun, too.

Yes, and so can the Librarian; which is an improvement over real life.
I wimp out a lot when it snows here. Largely because I know how to
drive in snow and bad weather and many, many people in this area think
that it's fine to pass and do 60mph during a blizzard---so I let them
have the roads. I'm in a use or lose predicament with annual leave at
work so, I'll stay home and read and cook and not worry about getting
my fenders in a rumple. We're having crazy weather, 20-30F at night
but close to the 50's during the day. And the trees are already
starting to send out their little shoots----no wonder my eyes itch.

I expect the 'wiggie relief expedition got to you at about the time the
last of the snow melted, leaving only the carrot that had been the nose of
the large snowman in the playground as evidence that it had ever been
there.
This is what happens.
If you want the snow to vanish overnight, spend an hour or more clearing it
from your front path so you won't slip on it in the morning nor find heaps
of distressed postmen and other delivery persons moaning on the doorstep.
Voila! Instant thaw!

Dangerous advice! If you clear your path, it snows; everybody knows that.
It's the same rule as the one that makes it rain if you wash your car.

That hardly ever happens. Anyway, I've been busy stopping the bats from
freezing when they come in after a hard night's hunting. (Picture, if
you will, a 'drake-snout sticking out from under a large pile of
shivering bats...)

Coo. It has just occurred to me. You have the bats living in your cave,
and you have good night vision: maybe you can count the little perishers
and tell us how many of them there are?
