"Foster Hewitt was only a few months past his twentieth birthday when he
broadcast his first hockey game. His broadcast booth was an airless glass
box laid across three frnot row seats in Toronto's old Mutual Street
Arena...But with all that he was an immediate hit. Within a few years he
was famous, his audiences sometimes numbering an astounishing one-third of
Canada's eighteen million citizens of the time. HELLO CANADA! is the first
definitive biography of Foster Hewitt and how he saw the game from the best
seat in the house-his famous gondola high above the ice at Maple leaf
Gardens."
- "He was hockey to a nation. This is a great book about a great
Canadian". - Punch Imlach.
- "He Shoots! He Scores! Few Canadians will ever forget the sound of Foster
Hewitt's voice as he screamed those famous words through so many
games-words more famous than the thousands of goals now lost in hockey
history."
