Passing this along from a good friend...

When writing out your Christmas and Hanukah cards, please consider
mailing one or more to:

A Recovering American soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington , D.C. 20307-5001

If you approve of this simple idea, please pass it on to your friend
and relatives.

Thanks!

How is your friend at paranoid cynicism and always double-checking
information received via email?

Not a good idea to send those cards.

http://billcork.wordpress.com/2007/11/07/walter-reed-spam/
And the original statement from the Walter Reed www site:
http://www.wramc.amedd.army.mil/Lists/WRNews/DispForm.aspx?Id=24&

While Walter Reed Hospital appreciates the kind thought, for security
reasons all mail from strangers to wounded soldiers is discarded unread.

Snopes.com has links to assorted organizations that do support wounded
soldiers, and Walter Reed suggests donations to them.

Someday I'm going to cold-heartedly cynic myself to death. sigh.

Wouldn't it be nice if things were actually simple? <sigh>
