Up for auction is "An Album Of Dogs" booklet with a complete set of 50
tobacco cards issued by the W.D. & H.O. Wills (branch of the Imperial
Tobacco Company of Great Britian & Ireland Limited) & with artwork by Arthur
Waddle. Neither the cards nor the booklet is dated but it is probably from
the 1930s. Each of the cards is neatly tacked into their proper place in the
booklet & apparently the cards were made with an adhesive backing for this
purpose according to the backside of one of the cards. Each of the tobacco
cards measures 2 1/8" x 1 3/8" (67mm x 36mm). The dogs include & in order
are as follows: Alsatian, Basset Hound, Beagle, Bloodhound, Borzoi, Bulldog,
Bullmastiff, Chow-Chow, Rough Collie, Smooth Collie, Pembrokeshire Welsh
Corgi, Dachshund, Dalmatian, Deerhound, Foxhound, Great Dane, Greyhound,
Mastiff, Newfoundland, Pekingese, Pointer, Pomeranian, Poodle, Pug, Golden
Retriever, Labrador Retriever, St. Bernard, Samoyed, English Setter, Irish
Setter, Old English Sheepdog, Clumber Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Field
Spaniel, King Charles Spaniel, English Springer Spaniel, Airedale Terrier,
Bedlington Terrier, Bull Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier,
Smooth Fox Terrier, Wire Fox Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, Irish Terrier,
Scottish Terrier, Sealyham Terrier, West Highland Terrier, Whippet, & Irish
Wolfhound. None of the cards are in mint condition but most of them are in
nice shape but with a little wear. The album itself is in very good minus
(VG-) condtion with a little staple rustin (staples are still solid though),
a little staining, a little edge wear, & a little dust soiling to the
covers. Overall, a nice piece. Shipping is $3.85 for USPS Priority or $2.00
for snail mail shipping if a USA shipment. Insurance is extra & delivery
confirmation for the media mail option is $0.13 extra (USA shipment only).
