Banks is worth seeing read his work. He is a very animate, funny, and
humble person. He seems not to have a single arrogant bone in his
body.

The deep thinking side of him does not come out in his readings and
his persona concentrates on the fun creative animated side. He's very
refreshing for a writer taking questions, probably because he has done
so well and made so much money for so long and has so many strong
fans, and partly because he's stayed up north all his life, only
sending some of his characters to London.

Me too. I didn't have much time for reading in the week but I made up for
it over the weekend. I'm about half way through. It might be just me - but
so far - I think it's one of his best. I'm not missing the culture at all;
and I thought I would.

I'll pop back in a few days when I've finished it and sing its praises
properly - with appropriate spoiler space.

Sounds great! It will take a lot to keep me from missing the
