I put my book for sale in the Amazon advantage program some 3 weeks
ago and they ordered one book first and then 17 more. Other book
sellers have picked up my bookk and offerin git on Marketplace.

My sales rank has been up and down for the last 3 weeks and at soem
poitn of time Amazon was posting that there were only 5 books on
stock.

The problem is that the amaozn sales report show that thye have sold a
total of ZERO books. I have sent an e-mail and they recoginze there
is a problem but Am I th eonly one this problem? how are they going
to pay me if they can't (or won't?) keep track of sales.

My associate had a book on Amazon through the Amazon Advantage program.
While a complete inventory reconcilation was never made, spot checks
were made, especially early in the business relationship. At all times
Amazon's reports were accurate and payments were received promptly, as
agreed.

The question you should ask yourself is, what might the problem be?

Does your bar code consistently read accurately? Is the barcode on your
book _correct_ (not the printed number, but the actual bar code).

When you shipped books to Amazon, did you include the packing list
inside the box and did you put the barcodes Amazon provides on the
outside of the box?

Of course, Amazon is highly automated and if a coding error involving
your book (perhaps Amazon assigned the book to another publisher in
error), then this could lead to a difficult to correct error.

Finally, you should go to your Amazon Advantage account and carefully
review all the information you entered to ensure that there is not an
error. For example, the ISBN provided for your book should exactly match
the ISBN in the bar code on your book.

Hello,

To follow up on Stella's comments to make sure the barcode matches the
ISBN, please be aware that the barcode and the readable text
immediately below will appear to not match the printed ISBN. The
barcode should begin with "978", followed by the first 9 digits of the
ISBN, followed by a final check digit that may or may not appear in
the ISBN.

Here is a brief article with a little more information on the barcode:

You can also get considerable information on ISBNs, but 10 digit version
and the new, now required 13 digit version at http://www.bisg.org

BISG is the Book Industry Study Group and they have a booklet you can
download, ISBN for Dummies.
