You know, this past Friday I couldn't help remembering that one
year prior I was rushing Charis through her trick-or-treating
while Amethyst was packing the bags for the hospital...

Actually, she does pretty well with the real thing these days.
For her Birthday on Saturday, we had a loaf of Apple-Bread with a
candle in it. She devoured an entire slice, walnuts and all.

1-year-olds get so MESSY when they eat cake. Smile

At my sister's first birthday she dumped a plate of crumbs on her
head...after eating the cake.

My younger brother has a beard - actually a goatee and moustache.
Guess what the first thing his son grabbed immediately *after*
grabbing and smushing his first birthday cke.

It took my brother *forever* to get all the icing out. And I
have pictures. <g>

I've got a picture (somewhere) of my sister's twin boys at their
first birthday party. A cake was put in front of them -- and they
immediately started slapping it with their hands (with the obvious
results).

Sigh...between them, the twins now have five kids of their own.

When presented with their first birthday cakes Victoria walked away and had
to be forcibly dragged back for pictures - this done to say, "We did so make
you a cake and throw you a party. Amanda, on the other hand, leaned forward,
blew out the candle and kept right on leaning forward and took her first
bite without waiting. I'm not known for my patience either....
