Yes folks, 2 new Buk books arrived today.
A slim bio-cum-thesis with the awkward title "Charles Bukowski:
Autobiographer, Gender Critic and Iconoclast" by some dude and "Charles
Bukowski: The FBI Files", containing pics by Montfort and published in
a cheap, photocopied-and-stapled-without-any-preface-or-introduction
format by the well-known purveyors of cheap Bukowski calendars, the
infamous 12 GAUGE PRESS.
His FBI files are rather boring and it's a wonder the government wasted
so much time on our favourite old reprobate. Nice pics, although we've
seen many of them before.
The biography (lose the title) is ok, but it tries too hard to place
the Bukster in some sort of literary context when we all know that Our
Man Buk was (and is) unique, right?
Anyway, did that guy ever find Richmond? If not, may I suggest he look
whever old, brain-dead, self-critiquing former
hippies-living-on-a-trust-fund hang out.
