BUK THE NAZI, BUK THE JEW

Seems like Pleasants claims to have dug up some dirt about the Old
Bukster.

Barry Miles likewise has a chapter entitled 'High School Nazi'.

Pleasants goes on about having re-discovered Fante and Andernach
(Hank's birthplace) before the Bukster did himself.

Great suspense at the moment as I read the Mortenson chapter. I'm at
the point where Pleasants has tracked down the 81-year old Mortenson.
Mortenson is stunned to discover that he had been portrayed by Buk as a
Jew (he's an Episcopalian) and a nerd in Ham on Rye. Mortenson is also
flabbergasted (I guess you Brits might say 'gob-smacked', or something)
to discover that Hank is a world-famous writer.
