BUKOWSKI from BEYOND brings the extraordinary writings and spirit of
Charles Bukowski to the stage with 29 th Street Rep company member Steve
Payne recreating his spell binding portrayal of this notorious writer for a
visceral evening of poetry and prose. "Bukowski is played with acerbic
intelligence and fond humor by Steve Payne" The New Yorker. Bukowski, one
of America's best known contemporary writers, was a low-life drifter,
prophet of the unemployed who didn't start writing until he was 35, after
quitting his job at the post office. Paynes portrayal of Buk's characters
are a paradoxical mix of cynicism and honor, brutality and pathos, failure
and success.

He WAS a low-life, and he did DRIFT for at least 3 years in the 40s.

Having a series of dead-end jobs, living in cheap rooming houses (ala
Big One and Robbie), being a controlled alcoholic and consorting with
skanks and other deadbeats for well over a decade is definitely
LOW-LIFE.

What's wrong with you?

Peach cobbler is an American pie, so why don't you go out and "buy,
buy, an American pie".
