Hello Folks!!!
I know this book has been out for a while but I was really interested in
it until I read the Dominion War Compilation last week. Well after searching a
few local bookstores I finally found a copy tucked away (on the bottom shelf)
among some other oldies at Borders.
Not giving away any of the plot, but wouldn't an effective weapon exist
in the old Federation Medical Archives. I seem to recall a Telekinectic
species that was overcome by McCoy injecting Kirk with a stronger dose of the
substance then exists in the species own bodies. I think the episode was
called "Bread and Circuses"!!! Oh well, when I read the book I just
remembered the old episode and wondered how such a substnace might have been
used to help in the war effort against the Dominion.
Given Murphy's Law, the Founders probably have found about it rather
quickly, stole it, duplicated it and then supply it to their troops. End
result, no more fed, klingons or anything else.

Actually the episode you were thinking about is "Plato's Stepchildren."
Remember this one? it was the big hoo-haa because that's when Kirk kisses
Uhura.
"Bread and Circuses" is sort of a Roman Empire theme.

He doesn't, though. He almost does, but he doesn't quite do it. >> Stay informed about: Battle for Betazed; a question sort of related to TOS! (No.. |

"Would I have" what? Kissed Uhura? Sure. Why not? I'm not sure what
your point is.
I think they shot different versions of the scene with them kissing and
not kissing, which is why Shatner and Nichols remember kissing. It was
a reasonably big hoo-haa at the time, but not as big as those who
weren't around then make it seem to be. Shatner saying "Let's get the
hell out of here" at the end of "City on the Edge of Forever" was a
bigger deal. You didn't say "hell" on TV in those days. >> Stay informed about: Battle for Betazed; a question sort of related to TOS! (No.. |

I was around then and it was a MUCH bigger deal than Kirk's use of the word
"hell".

I was around then, too, and I stand by what I said. I think there was
massively more publicity about the (alleged) kiss, though, if that's
what you mean.
There were many objections to the "hell" line, particularly on a
program with a large kid audience. The word just wasn't used back
then. >> Stay informed about: Battle for Betazed; a question sort of related to TOS! (No.. |
