| Hi folks,
Is the Beauty Series any good, read all of the Vampire Chronicles except
Blood Canticle, and Mayfair Witches except Taltos. Is it worth reading
before the Blood Canticle and Taltos. Haven't bothered yet with the others.
Any thoughts

The erotic series is very imaginative and different, but not brilliantly epic
like the first three Chronicles or the Mayfair Trilogy were.
I read the Beauty Books just to decide for myself, plus I wanted to be able to
say I'd read all of Anne's books. Which I have!
Of her stories, Violin was probably my least favorite. Servant of the Bones
was the runner-up in the worst category...
Be well!

I have read the Beauty series and it is an excellent set of erotic
novels. Might be too intense for some but I found it enlightening. I
love everything Anne Rice writes even though some of them I have had
to drag myself thru the book to finish it.

I feel that Anne's "Beauty Books" are the best example of serious-minded
pornography ever written. I have praised them countless times here, so I
won't repeat the positive adjective mutilation! They are very worth the
time. The only reason that an Anne Rice fan should not read them is if
they do not want to become aroused, or if they are asexual. Anne said
that they were a one-off experiment that she wanted to try, so you do
not have to be acquanted with any of her other works to read them. By no
means her best books---but a definte must for any fan.

Aye, they were much more a fun read than Story of O which got bogged down
sometimes.
Exit to Eden was great too.

I loved the Beauty Series especially the first book which had the shock
of the new about it. It was a bdsm novel and those who fail to take that
into account would not understand it...the world of BDSM is like the
world of fairy stories with its own rules and conventions...and some
damned wicked witches too
I am interested that Anne Rice is so anti fan fiction though. Isn't the
Beauty Series fan fiction on Charles Perrault's character?

If you are into paddling, domination, S&M, B&D style novels, then by all
means read them.
Let's just say, that almost every page SOMEONE is being dominated, paddled,
chained, whipped, brought into submission....

heh I remember reading the Story of O when I was in high school - Dad found
the book on the train (he worked on them) and didn't know what it was about.
Knew I was an avid reader and passed it over.
I must admit, I never DID tell him what it was about and after finishing,
"Lost" it, so my younger siblings didn't find it - or my mother!
Tamara (Dad also found a book called "hers, by the author of His", which he
DID realise was erotica and had thrown out, I snagged and read. I was very
young and had NO IDEA what half of it meant, just that they had names for
their genitalia... odd)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Beauty Series |

She doesn't have to be, just needs to write it well.
After all, how many authors who write serial killer novels are actual serial
killers.. or murderers... or live Jackie Collins lifestyles?
I think she's just great at writing and conveys her stories with a passion.
