Or maybe a Colonist?

Given the Known Space frame of reference why would anyone remain
willingly on Earth? otoh- Why would anyone live in a can like Belters do?

What could get you to do the colonist thing and risk life, limb and
fortune to stake out a plot on an mostly undiscovered world?

Me, I find some romance in being off-planet. Now this might be just a
case of wanting what you don't have, grass is greener type thinking.

Still, I think I would make a good Belter, although homesteading would
be a less lonely life. (Most anywhere would be OK, except Plateau
pre-revolution.)

High standard of living, reasonably long life for the law-
abiding.

A complete ignorance of the crappy programming that went
into the ram-robots.

Let's see, these were the stars within reach of the pre-FTL
UN as I recall:

  Wunderland: stratifed society, right?

Home: colony died off due to plague, unoccupied for the next 200
years.

  Jinx: Welcome to heavyworld.

  Plateau: extremely stratified society.

We Made It: better hope you brought shovels.

That's me, colonist on Jinx, sign me up I want to go NOW!

Some people think I am crazy for feeling that way, but Jinx has 6 times the
surface area of the Earth with twice the habitable area. Don't have to
worry about my kids being crowded into city life unless they really want it.
