(1) As a writer of three books and (2) as a collector of books--especially
Beat themes, I've come to realize that there are generational waves of
interest (not rocket science)..the baby boomers (1947-53) are old and the
interest levels have cooled down...althought there is a current rebirth of
interest by the neo-social misfits (who have no money) I would imagine
that publishers look only for proven money makers...the point: If
Burroughs Jr. had been a Civil War guy, football player or a dead
republican the shelves would be stocked to the limit. I wouldn't leave a
space on your shelf for Willy, Jr.
