I have a brother in-law who really loves "Do Androids Dream of Electric
Sheep?"
Now his birthday is around the corner and I'm looking for something a bit
like it.
Does anyone in the group know some Philip K. Dick novels with the same
theme?

I hope somebody can help.

Thank you

T. Nielsen

I'm not really well-read as fas as PKD goes, but a standout Sci-fi dual
reality novel is his 'Ubiq'.

Less sci-fi (rather a what-if contemporary-times novel) is
'Man in the glass tower' (if I've correctly remembered the title?)

Hi there!

I agree that Ubiq is fantastic but not as much sci-fi that DADOES, so may
your brother get a bit dissapointed.

Try a short-tales book like the one that came out when Paycheck the Movie
hit the scene, for me they are long much funny and easy to read.

See you.

You might want to look at the Blade Runner sequel novels by K.W. Jeter.

I am about halfway through Ubik.

Less "cyber" than "Do Androids Dream of Electric
 > Sheep?"

Reminds me of the movie Brasil.
Even though I haven't seen it in awhile.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Don't expect these BR sequels to be like DADOES or something else PKD
wrote. I wouldn't recommend them on the basis of someone liking Do
Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? Wouldn't recommend them on any
basis except a fondness for K. W. Jeter (which I don't happen to have
much of) but tastes vary.

If your friend can find a copy of The Preserving Machine by PKD in a
used bookstore I think that is a short story collection likely to
appeal to anyone who enjoyed DADOES.

Cheers,

"You might want to look at the Blade Runner sequel novels by K.W.
Jeter. "

and then again you might not, the first one was so bad that I didnt
even finish reading it.

Jeter tried to explain the differences between the movie and the book ,
e.g. The film was "wet" because it was winter???.

Why bother, cant even recall the story line, from memory Rachael (from
the moive) was slowly dying even though she was supposed to have no
expiry date and Deckard had to confront Roy Batty again to save her....

Total crap, if your are interested in Jeter's work try his early novels
Dr. Adder and the Glass Hammer, great sci-fi.
