Post subject: The "Buick 8" world and "The Mist"...?
Archived from groups: alt>books>stephen-king (more info?)

I finally got to "From a Buick 8", and, while reading it, was constantly
wondering if SK intended the "other world" to be reminiscent of the one
from which the creatures in "The Mist" came... I realize they are not
the same - for one, the beings in "The Mist" don't die in our atmosphere
(and I do remember that the game based on "The Mist" suggested that the
creatures were actually mutated insects, but, as far as I can recall, it
was only someone's interpretation of the story, not SK's idea -
personally, I always assumed that the Mist creatures were not of Earthly
origin). Still, as soon as the "bat" appeared, I immediately thought of
"The Mist", and wondered if SK thought of it, too, while writing "Buick
8"... It would, in a certain way, fit his habit of planting various
crossovers throughout different books...

Buick Question (minor spoiler) - SPOILER * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I just finished it, and while I really enjoyed it, I really don't see how it's related to the Dark Tower, as King claims it is on his "also by Stephen King" list in DT5. I Googled to se...

Into the Mist - Finally saw it... Probably the most "what's on the page is in the film" adaptation there's been. (But, as King has said himself, if I may paraphrase... sometimes it's best to leave the unseen horror behind the door. The nasties just weren't...
