Building the Bomb

Read another article in Smithsonian, this one based on Bird
and Sherwin's American Prometheus. It's about the develop-
ment of the Atom bomb. I have never read much about all
the fun they had down there at Los Alamos. It's a good
article. Gives a brief description of the progress they
made, the politics, the controversy, and their final success.

I really enjoy the Smithsonian magazine, and I'd recommend
it. Short articles on a big variety of subjects. Over the
past few issues they've tracked the progress of Lewis and
Clark's expedition, celebrating a 200 year anniversary.
