He rose just a bit later than the others you mention. The first Buk
writing I remember reading was in a mid 1970s issue of Hustler. It was
a pretty creepy short story of a fairly typical Buk type character.
Only later when I found his poetry, did I begin to appreciate him
more.

You're so desperate to put me down that you don't even care that
nowhere have I claimed to be an expert on Bukowski. I enjoy his work,
and distinctly remember when he began to become more widely known, and
that's that.

I remember distinctly *my* first exposure to Bukowski, the Hustler
short story and an essay by Lester Bangs on him. I've read quite a few
of Buk's pieces through the 1980s and 1990s, and had the CD collection
of him reading for a while back in 1998. I *own* two of his books,
"Boarding House Madrigals" and "Hollywood".

There, Renay. Dig yourself up a nice Dockery put-down so your friends
can giggle. That seems to be all you're good for around here, these
days... until you post another sexy photo of yourself.

Not likely we'll see a poem here from you, or any of your cronies.
Will

easily led. he's a whole lot more picky now than he used to be.
actually reads the poems instead of the hype before he jumps on
a bandwagon. try it. sad for the dog, though.

recently I fed you a pretty well known "Buk" line. you come up
with the title yet?
