So what 'inside' information do you have that he was sacked? Oh, I see,
it's your political wish for all to think that and that is all you need.

So, who will be next when the truth comes out about the CIA operative leak?

Tibbs as usual projects his own feeling without taking the least
effort to inform himself and takes, "It is with great sadness that I
accept the resignation of ... " at face value. But one does presume
that the well informed American knows that the Senate Intelligence
Committee is currently looking into George Tenant. (Of course
one has to presume that Mr. Jojo, who usually wades in rather
quickly over his head knows who George Tenant is, other
than recognize a name he's heard on Fox News in connection
with September 11.)
(The "-ignation" words are troublesome for Jojo. He recently
wanted to target Yasser Arafat for assignation, and in his ardor
said so repeatedly.)
Anyway, members of the committee have leaked to the media
that their report will be scathing. For instance, Time magazine
comments in the current issue. The news is all over the place.
A standard item on security clearance questionaires in the United States
is the question of whether the applicant has ever resigned from a job
during a security clearance investigation. Security clearances are
George Tenant's business. He simply would not quit under the
cloud of suspicion unless it had been conveyed to him that the
Gran Queso would like him gone. >> Stay informed about: Bush finally sacks Tenant |

Oh well, Bush is now going to present the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" to
The Pope.

Weird too, since The Pope was so anti-Iraq invasion.
Perhaps he'll pick up some disenfranchised Catholic voters over the
Pro-Choice brouhaha. Since Kerry's on the 'out' with The Pope, perhaps Bush
sees an opportunity. That sly little devil.

The "spend time with my family" crap is generally code for "not pissed off
enough to make accusations" - it's just how it's done, it doesn't mean that
Bush wanted him gone (it doesn't mean that Bush didn't want him gone,
either). Who knows how they see this? A guarantee of plausible deniability
of responsibility for the "intelligence failure?" Maybe, but it's not
unlikely that the Bush admin looks at this and sees the first of the six
resignations Al Gore just called for, sees another O'Neill / Clark
tell-enough book, sees a round of big interviews in which Tenet, now
unleashed, gets to exculpate himself from this debacle and plant
responsibility squarely at the WH. Tenet is the one, remember, who when
told about the twin towers is reported to have immediately said "this has
Osama Bin Laden's fingerprints all over it," as opposed to Bush who cornered
Clark and said "this was Iraq. Find out how this was Iraq." If I were
Bush/Rove/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Feith/Wolfowitz/Libby, George Tenet on the loose
would be making me a little nervous. - htd >> Stay informed about: Bush finally sacks Tenant |

I posted this and then read Alterman, who has some very good questions about
the resignation: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3449870/ Go read. - htd

Or that the democrats want him gone so they can blame Bush for Clinton's
mistakes. Tenet came into office seven years ago.

If you're confident that Tenet is going to, either because it's the truth or
because he's just that friendly with Bush, publicly state that the evidence
was clear and overwhelming that it was not safe to wait for the weapons
inspectors to finish their inspections and make a report, that the threat
from Iraq was so pressing that any reasonable person with access to the
CIA's product could have arrived at the conclusion that action had to be
taken in March of 2003, then I could see your point. But there have been
too many CIA analysts who have been on record saying that they were
pressured to slant evidence, Tenet himself had to redraft reports for W... I
think the best B/R/C/R/F/W/L oh, yeah and Cambone can hope for is that Tenet
stays very quiet. - htd >> Stay informed about: Bush finally sacks Tenant |
