Hi, all:

Just took a peep ahead for the next month and Book 4, Chapters 3 ("The
Black Gate Is Closed", October 4) and 4 ("Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit",
October 11) are still open. Likely folks are waiting for Frodo and
Sam and Gollum to dominate the discussions again -- in the meantime,
is anybody interested now?

Barb

I have a comment to make about the next chapter again (4/5, "The Window on
the West"). Could somebody remind me nearer the time please? Just say the
magic words "Pont Nedd Fechan" Smile

I know this is pretty far ahead of time, but if you please, put me down for
5-8, "The Houses of Healing" and 6-4 "The Field of Cormallen". Thanks.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I know it's a bit further out, but you can put me down for IV,8 'The
Stairs of Cirith Ungol' -- it's a beautiful chapter with some powerful
interactions Wink

Thanks, Troels -- it's yours.

As a general note, "Herbs and Stewed Rabbit" is now taken, but "The
Black Gate is Closed" is still available. I thought that was the
chapter where Frodo or Sam said, "I feel sick," on viewing the
wasteland around Mordor, but I couldn't find it there. Perhaps that's
one of the later ones...?

I believe it's ... whichever chapter Minas Morgul is in. Is that "The
Stairs of Cirith Ungol"?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

It is in Bk 4 Ch 2: The Passage of the Marshes. It follows the
description of their first sight of the wasteland between the Black Gate
and the Marshes.

"They had come to the desolation that lay before Mordor: the lasting
monument to the dark labour of its slaves that should endure when all
their purposes were made void; a land defiled, diseased beyond all
healing - unless the Great Sea should enter in and wash it with
oblivion. 'I feel sick,' said Sam. Frodo did not speak."

But this is getting ahead of ourselves! Smile

I'll do the Black Gate chapter, if no one else has offered.
