Post subject: Call for recordings for Kerouac/Cage project
Archived from groups: rec>arts>books (more info?)

CAll FOR SOUND RECORDINGS
I am a composer completing a multimedia work based on Kerouac's "On the

Road."
A mix of recordings of ambient sounds from various locations
will be played as part of the performance, which will also include
poetry recitation, a DJ mixing bop records mentioned in the novel, and
live musicians playing music described in the novel. To create this
work I am using John Cage's "Roaratorio" as a model.
I need recordings of ONLY those cities and rural locations listed
below. As per Cage's instructions, "You can simply accept the sounds
which are in the place you go to when you make the recording." Do not
intentionally set out to capture a particular sound unless that sound
is characteristic of the location. Please do not add commentary.

Your cooperation in providing a recording would be acknowledged in
connection with publications.

Format: Audio CD, AIFF, any length between 30 seconds and ten minutes.
The CD must be labeled with your name and the specific location (attach
label or write with marker).
Provide your email address if you wish to be notified of acceptance and
publication information. Thanks in advance to everyone who sends
submissions.
