novelist, Carl Hiaasen, will be the featured celebrity in an eBay
auction beginning Sunday, January 14 and ending the following Sunday.
The winning bidder in this Greatest Gift Auction will receive lunch
with Hiaasen, as well as a one-night stay at The Breakers Palm Beach
and dinner at the popular Amici Ristorante & Bar. The winning bidder
will be able to bring one guest. Proceeds benefit programs of the
nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation, including family literacy. Go

Author of bestselling novels about the wacky side of Florida, Hiaasen
also serves as a columnist for The Miami Herald. Together Hiaasen's
novels have been published in 30 languages, which is 29 more than he is
able to read or write. The London Observer has called him "America's
finest satirical novelist," while Janet Maslin of the New York Times
has compared him to Preston Sturges, Woody Allen and S.J. Perelman.

The winning bidder and his/her guest will receive a once-in-a-lifetime
luncheon at The Seafood Bar located at the famous resort, The Breakers
Palm Beach, on a mutually agreeable date. Inspired by the breathtaking
views of the Atlantic, The Seafood Bar tempts diners with fresh
seasonal fish and seafood , and a tantalizingly diverse menu in a
casually elegant setting, reminiscent of Old Florida. The luncheon is
valid From June 1, 2007 until September 30, 2007 (excluding holidays)
and is subject to availability at the time a reservation is requested.
Alcoholic beverages are not included.

The winning bidder will also receive a one night, two day stay for two
