Somebody recently suggested that we stage a theatrical production of
the Lord of the Rings. I lack the talent to be a scriptwriter or
stagehand, but I do have a talent for choosing the right person for
the right role. That being the case, here are my suggestions for the
cast of The AFT/RABT production of LOTR.
First the obvious disclaimer: This is purely in good fun and no
offense is intended to anyone.
The Bad Guys
Sauron: Michael O'Neill
The Witch-King: Ojevind Lang
The Mouth of Sauron: David Flood
Saruman: Morgil
Wormtongue: Yuk Tang
The Balrog: Morgoth's Curse (*blush*)
Gollum: Count Menelvagor
Bill Ferny: Baronjosef
The Good Guys
Frodo: Steuard Jensen
Sam: Stan Brown
Pippin: The American
Merry: Aaron Clausen
Gandalf: Christopher Kruezer
Aragorn: Russ
Legolas: Troels Forchhammer
Gimli: Archie
Boromir: Raven
Elrond: Conrad Dunkerson
Arwen: Brenda Selwyn
Galadriel: Belba Grubb from Stock
Celeborn: Bill O'Meally
Denethor: The Softrat
Faramir: Flame of the West
Prince Imrahil: Meneldil/TT Arvind
Eomer: Jamie Armstrong
Theodon: Kristian Damm Jensen
Eowyn: Ermanna

If O'Neill is Sauron, why would the Mouth of Sauron be needed? O'Neill
can rant for himself. Sauron should be an old-timer who rarely is seen
any more, but whose presence is somehow felt.
Michael Martinez would have been perfect for the role if he hadn't
stepped back on-stage (and his website could have portrayed the Ring).
Right now MM could play Mount Doom.
O'Neill could be Saruman, a real talker, dedicated to distracting
everyone from the real object of proper attention.
I should like to be an elf who has one or two lines, unless I can be
Ugluk.

Yeah, standing up will do that.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Casting for the AFT/RABT Production of LOTR... |

So I get to be Flame's older brother and protector? I wonder what he has
to say about that. But I already suggested myself for one of Dáin's
messengers at Erebor.
At any rate, I might suggest, based on RL family relationships, that
Flame be cast as Elrond and Ermanna as Arwen. Mrs. Flame would then be
Celebrían: has played an important role, but very rarely makes an appearance
on the NGs.

More or less. It seemed appropriate since there is nothing that
our "Denethor" would love more than to smite our "Sauron."

This won't do, mortal. For one thing, all the characters named here
are *good*guys. For another, I am the only *genuine* Balrog currently
posting in the gnusgroups.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Casting for the AFT/RABT Production of LOTR... |

 Very entertaining reading.

You left out Morgoth...
(I know, it's LotR, but use your imagination!)
You also forgot to cast the Trolls.

Sorry about that little fight in Moria...
I must confess that I have played some parts in a (very amateur)
production of LotR. I was actually the Balrog and the
Watcher-in-the-water.

Cirdan, surely?

Luckily for y'all Morgoth's Curse is such a versatile actor that he is
fully capable of handling the dual role of Morgoth and The Balrog.

There were too many to name. :{ (I briefly considering nominating
Michael Martinez, but then realized it is impossible for he and Conrad
Dunkerson to be in the same building. )

The only one old enough to be Cirdan is the Softrat, but I already
nominated him for the role of Denethor. If he is interested in a
cameo performance, however, I'm sure we can find a false beard
somewhere.
