You may be mine too. Come Monday I'll go off for two weeks to fiddle
with a rather large tent. Flourishing an axe and occasional sulphur-plated
language is not mandatory.

Unfortunately, because Tolkien was primarily a fantasy writer and this
is a newsgroup dedicated to his works, all titles must be related to
the realm of fantasy. Hence, while I cannot name you the AFT
Cold-Hearted Scientist, the title of Necromancer is still available.

It doesn't sound very attractive, but if it pays well...

What was your role again? And do I have to be guard, too? Ooo,

I don't remember what my role was, only that my own suggestion was as one
of the messengers of the Dwarves of Erebor. And you can be a guard if you
want to.

I wrote "not mandatory", not "forbidden". I'm a great believer in
letting people do their own thing, so long as they don't step on other
people's toes - first.

It might be a bit hard to play an elf and a dwarf in the same
movie

Or hit them with an axe? Or is it just for flourishing? I think I
can flourish an axe. Doesn't sound too difficult.

I never proposed that I should play a Dwarf.

I have only ever once actually slain someone on the NGs with an axe.
That was our local Rog, at the same time as he burnt Henriette and me to
cinders - a small disagreement over who should be associated with Tom
Bombadil. Henriette and I provoked him a bit, I must concede, though he
rather challenged us to do so. Usually I just flourish the axe a bit. Just
make sure you don't flourish it so vigorously that you hit someone by
accident.
When you hit someone with an axe, always do it on purpose is my advice.
Then you won't have to stand sheepishly over the cloven corpse under the
blank stares of your companions until you can invent a suitable reason why
you went and did it.
("Kvifor drap du far din?"
"Han stod så lageleg til for hogg.")
(="Why did you kill your father?"
"He stood so well placed for the chop.")

Well, that's excusable.

I wasn't slain; that ws a mere scratch.

I don't remember the incident too well; but that's hardly surprising,
as I once brunt the entire gnusgroup and then completely forgot about
it untill I got the insurance bill. >> Stay informed about: Casting for the AFT/RABT Production of LOTR... |

No. Rattus Mollis amuses me, and sometimes brings a gem or to about
Scand historical linguistics - that alone can forgive very, very much. I
don't know if the old bandicoot feels the same about me. Besides, he has
never attacked me with violence. As for the verbal violence, I have a
rather thick skin against that. If I've ever been flamed by anyone I've
never really noticed. I just reply in kind, perhaps with interest added,
and don't ask if it hurt because I'm too thick-skinned myself to suppose
that it did. People have to notify me.

Then use both hands. Besides, I have three axes, of varying sizes.
Here, I'll lend them to you while I'm away. Mind you, I'll want them back
before winter. I use a woodstove to heat my house, and unlike the Rog I
can't just exude fire when I need some.

I was kidding. I wouldn't slay the softrat either. But if someone
has to be slain, well, it IS a likely candidate, no?

I think you know the answer to that.

<stumbles> thank you! I'll take care of them as I take care of my
own stuff. The stuff I take care of, I mean.

Are just three axes not burnt very quickly? I thought you had
long winters.

You're thinking of bandicoots, which are as tough as nails. Despite
appearances, the softrat is actually about as tough as a chiffon veil.
