Is there any part of Finnegans Wake that mentions chess players? I thought
Capablanca was mentioned somewhere but I can't find it.

And what about the section with cricketers? I remember that it is in the
section where Mr & Mrs Porter are 'doing it' for the last time - but I can't
find that either.

well...the doc is being uncharacteristically reticent.....I'm sure
there are several, if not hundreds of chess references in FW. Look back
on this list and you will find the Doc's brilliant thesis on the second
paragrarh as a game of backgammon as an imbedded riddle.

Sadly, the men in white coats only allow Doc occasional web access, but
he believes there is a riddle imbedded in every paragraph of
FW...........and I believe him!!!!!.......but he wont
share....tut...something about trolls....but his carers know what he
means.....he's been raving about it for years. I think I have found
things as obscure as Groucho Marx and Coca Cola on the little bits of
clues he gives!!!

check.......mate!
