I believe I recall from reading some of Lewis's works as well from works
about him that G.K. Chesterton's writings had an influence on him. Did
Lewis write anything about Chesterton's works? Particularly, about "The Man
Who Was Thursday"?

I would appreciate any help anyone here can give to me.

Thank you!

Anna

For CSL the apologetics of Chesterton were important. Specifically,

I don't know, but you might want to look up the book _Surprised by
Laughter_, which has a great deal concerning GKC's influence on CSL.

I recall a mention somewhere of "all those little books of essays" in
which Lewis indicated that in his opinion those were dead. But I have
always thought that Lewis must have read a number of them, as he seems
to have become acquainted with the Chestertonian approach.

The problem with them -- particularly the late ones --, of course, is
that beyond a certain point all of them are the same. This may be why
Lewis was very conscious of writing too much, when one has nothing new
to say.

All the best,

Briefly. He compared The Man Who Was Thursday favorably to Kafka in
"Period Criticism" in On Stories and Other Essays in Literature.
