As I don't think she is anywhere close to to being even half done with
the book, I think we are in for a wait- a very long wait. Something
about home repairs and an ailing father (he had some majory surgeory
about a month ago) getting in the way of the creative thoughts. Will
depend on how much ACE puts pressure on her to meet her contract.

At one point she had shifted to the editing of DC because of all the
distractions.

Like I say we are in for a wait- personally I am hoping by Christmas
2005 but that may be wishfull thinking. How long did it take her to
write ITKS?

Hi again,
Deryni Rising I know is supposed to come out sometime within the next few
weeks, between the end of june and the beginning of july. Which is good, as
I have a few deryni fan b'days coming up around that time. Weee...
As for Morgan Childe book 2, not sure on anything about when that is going
to print.

I hope Katherine's father is doing better by now. Having an ailing parent
is very stressful. I can understand her not feeling very creative at this
difficult time. Is that (her dad's illness) why there haven't been any chat
logs in several weeks? Or are they just not reaching AOL?
Speaking of which, I just upgraded my system software, so now I can look
seriously at a cable modem or a new ISP. (One step at a time..._) Of course,
today AOL has decided to behave! <G>

I think KK's original deadline for finishing CM was some time this summer, but
I'm sure that's been pushed back due to her father's illness. Christmas '05
sounds realistic, albeit depressingly far away, to me.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've not posted much (if any at all) but to put my two cents in I think that
I would rather wait for a few more months on the book so she can focus her
energies on her father then when he's better, focus on the book. after all
everything would suffer if she has to split her focus

A long time. I'm not holding my breath on this one. However, I believe her
father has been making a good recovery from his surgery. Naturally,
Katherine's concerned about his progress, but his primary nursing care is
in the hands of Katherine's stepmother in Florida. I assume that if her
father had been in any danger, she'd have gone to see him before now, and
probably would NOT be going on the cruise she mentioned in chat on Sunday .
The work on her house has been much more of an ongoing distraction from her
writing than her father's health over the past year. I think there should
be a law that novelists may ONLY renovate their homes AFTER the completion
of one project and BEFORE assuming a new one.

I'm glad to hear KK's father is making a good recovery. Family comes above
all else.

If she wasn't allowed to do the renovations because of the books we want,
the poor woman would be living in a house that is tumbling down around her
as she's hunched over the computer, LOL...

I wonder, would we be as impatient without the internet. Before, it was
always a pleasant surprise to walk into a book store and see a new Deryni
book. Now I spend more time anticipating the next book. I suspect that's a
disadvantage of having her so accessible through the chats and conventions.

  Agreed, Melissa!

So, did you ever finish that Deryni story for the zine? Wink

And your point is- as my children keep asking me- just kidding.
Houses too take tender loving care.

Not having been to any conventions that Katherine has been at, drat
the bad luck and financial drains eleswhere, can't say about them but
I did read the chats as they would be posted and saw the evolution of
ITKS. It does add to the anticipation in some ways and in others it
helped give you the weekly dose of deryni stuff. Also it was amazing
how much you could find out about the story just reading the chats.
It was very enjoyable to be able to read the book and see how the
tidbits fit in the overall book.

Oh THAT story... she says guiltily. I'm working on it this morning to have
it ready for you soon. It got rather badly stalled for a long time. Now I'm
trying to hack my way through the underbrush and get it moving forward,
again.

Yes, houses do take loving care, especially when one has a residence as
special as Holybrooke. But the current remodeling project has been quite a
distraction to her through the last two books.

Oh, I wasn't complaining, mind you - I love the speculation before the book
as much as I love the discussion after the book, LOL!
