When I took a children's birthday outing to see Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban at a cinema in Cambridge, England, yesterday, I was
surprised and pleased to see some advertisements for books shown before the
film. There were three short ads for the Series of Unfortunate Events, and
one for HP5 (due out in pb here next month).

I don't remember having seen advertisements for books at the cinema before.

Any other examples or comments?

Diana

That is good to see - nothing like that in Australia, so far as I'm aware. I
guess the HP 5 is a given - kids over here love the Unfortunate events
series. What a great way to grab a whole lot of kids' attention. I (try)
and sell Aus children's books, and would LOVE that sort of exposure, if I
could afford the ad!)
(feeling a bit sheepish - <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.booksonboomerangs.com.au" target="_blank">http://www.booksonboomerangs.com.au</a> - if you want
a look!)
Cheers

It does make you wonder why there were no ads for Tolkien books when
LOTR was so popular.
