Cinhil -Camber of Culdi Chapter seven

In the next to the last paragraph of chapter seven of Camber of Culdi we
find the following passage which is Rhys thinking of the reading he had
done when he and Camber had first found Cinhil St. Foillan's:

"He kept thinkingof the parts of Cinhil which he had not been able to
read, which lay behind close-guarded shield that he had not expected to
find in a human, and which he had not dared to probe, for fear of discovery"

end of excerpt.

From this, we can see either one of two things. A) Cinhil is a Deryni
or B) Humans can have Deryni Capabilities. This is well before the
empowerment ritural. So that does not come into play here.

One of the the things that drove Camber to think that he might be able
to empower Cinhil somehow was the fact that Cinhil had shields. No
explanation given as to why he has shields. Without background on the
Haldane line, you don't know if they are totally human or have deryni
blood somewhere way back.
Also he is a Haldane. Need to be looking towards a non-Haldane.
