Hi. Currently I own every Kurt Vonnegut novel in paperback or hardback
form, but now I want to collect all of them in leather-bound, first
edition form (i.e. the most grand form possible). I've been browsing
eBay and see that there are Easton Press and Franklin Library first
editions of his books in leather, some signed, some not. What I am
wondering is, which of his books are in these editions? Are his short
story collections included, such as Wampeters, Foma, and Granfalloons,
or his autobiographical work Palm Sunday, or are they just his novels?
Which of them are signed?

I just bought the unsigned Franklin Library first edition of Slapstick
off of eBay for $36 to start my collection. Was this a good deal? Is
there another good place besides eBay where I can find these nice
leather editions? Any collecting tips are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Franklin signed leather limited FIRST editions:

Slapstick
Jailbird
Galapagos
Bluebeard

Franklin signed leather limited editions (NOT first editions):

Slaughterhouse-Five (1976)

Delacorte signed limited first editions (NOT leather):

Slapstick
Jailbird
Palm Sunday
Deadeye Dick

Putnam signed limited first editions (NOT leather that I recall):

Hocus Pocus
Fates Worse Than Death
Timequake
Bagombo Snuff Box

Easton Press signed limited leather editions (NONE first editions that I
recall):

Sirens of Titan (1990)
Breakfast of Champions (?)

I vaguely recall having also seen Easton signed leather editions of
Slaughterhouse-Five, Hocus Pocus, Timequake, Bagombo Snuff Box, and God
Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian offered for sale on eBay, but not absolutely sure.
I'm sure there are some others that I'm not aware of, or not presently
recalling, as well.

Slapstick was unsigned? I thought it was signed. I'd say it was a good deal,
though.

eBay is probably as good a place to look as any, and probably better than
most, because so many sellers are involved, and you at least stand a chance
of getting a good deal because it's an auction. The only other suggestions
I'd have would be searching for pertinent keywords, such as "vonnegut",
"signed", "leather", "first edition", etc. via Google or another search
engine, or going through Barnes and Noble's or Amazon's web sites and
searching for titles from their networks of used book dealers. Good luck.

Try BookFinder <http://www.bookfinder.com/>. They consolidate the
listings of the other bookstores as well as a bazillion mom&pop
operations. They're also very good at describing the books.
Between eBay and BookFinder you'll have it pretty much all covered.

Thanks guys. It's a shame they all aren't in leather form. It'd be neat
to see them all lined up on a bookshelf like a set of encyclopedias. I
guess I'll just have to settle for the next best thing - the first
edition hardback.
