So no-one wants to discuss this?
David Jason already said he's playing Rincewind.
Jean Vadim is running the show again with Terry doing his usual
"interfering".
And it's due to start shooting this summer.
Anyone got any other info? >> Stay informed about: Colour Of Magic Film |

Not AFAIK. That's why no-one's discussing it.
I can post the reasons Jason *shouldn't* be playing Rincewind
again, but that's all I've got...

OK, you've provoked me . I'll say now what I nearly said the first
time: that's very depressing news because David Jason only ever plays
David Jason.
(I was reluctant to say it before because I haven't yet got around to
watching Hogfather, but what excerpts and clips I've seen don't
encourage me ... )

I don't agree (Grenville isn't Del isn't Frost), but I agree
that he wasn't quite right as Albert (the best description
I've heard is that he played *an* Albert, but not *the*
Albert) and is even less suited to play Rincewind.
(Besides, if we're doing *all* of them, eventually we'll get
to the Albert-meets-Rinso scene from Mort...)

Not unthinkable, since CM/LF are really just one novel in two volumes.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the former, and suspect Sky forced The Mob
to cast him, as he was the big name in Hogfather and is thus the poster
child for future Discworld productions. I'd have preferred the chap who's
currenty playing Dr Who, whateverhisnameis, playing Rincewind, since that
would have pulled a fair number of viewers as well.
But it's not my call to make.
I'd also like to know what they're keeping and what they're cutting, as
there's a lot in CoM that is rather dated or of narrow interest, like the
Wyrmberg and Hrun, or the Cthulhu thing. Since there's no plot to speak of
in CoM, I hope they're cutting mercilessly and integrate it with LF.

With a little work, it's possible they could get DJ to do a passable[1]
Cohen. And/or perhaps Leonard.
[1] Though, again, not definitive. >> Stay informed about: Colour Of Magic Film |

I agree with everything you've said, but don't know why, if Pterry's
actually messing about with this one too, why he doesn't put his foot
down and say "No David, I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong for the
part", is it because David Jason's paying for the entire budget of the
entire film. It is after all his story, so couldn't he ban it from
being shown if the answer back was "I don't care if I'm wrong for
Rincewind, but I'm playing him anyway".
Nothing against DJ might I add, I think he's a great actor! I grew up
with him as a kid playing parts like Grenville and Dell-boy, and he's
rather sweet as Inspector Frost too - but he'd probably get much too
exhausted and have a heart attack trying to run a long distance run and
get away from a demon at his age!!

During the previous discussion, ISTR that the smart (or at
least, hopeful) money was on the guy from Heroes.
