Post subject: Concise Oxford Chronology of English Literature
Archived from groups: rec>collecting>books (more info?)

I just got a copy of this the other evening. What a lot of useful information.
The first 600 pages give annually from 1470 to 2001 major political events,
births and deaths of authors, and publication of books, sometimes noting (as in
the case of Sherlock Holmes stories) the date of first publication as a book and
the dates of serialized publication in a magazine. The last 200+ pages provide
an alphabetical listing of authors (with dates of birth and death) and their
books (listed chronologically) with years of publication.

An excellent resource for collectors.
