I'm really confused at the moment because I read the German
translations of Honor Harrington, and after I finished nearly all of
the translated books, I was looking out for non-translated novels to
read in original.
And I noticed that in German, there is another book AFTER "At All
Cost", while in English, "At All Cost" is the last book of the
series... yeah.
The book after "At All Cost" is called "It's make or break" (that's
the translation which is closest, I think) and ends with the great
battle at Manticore, "At All Cost"'s end is after the death of Timothy
Meares and Simon Mattingly.

I hope you can help me to find out where the second book came from Smile

Thanks a lot, I was really surprised because there were suddenly less
books... ^^

Greets back from Austria Wink

After Posting, I had a closer look to the other book, and at one of
the first pages, there is a notice "Title of original book: At All
Costs (Part 2)"... its the same in the second book of "War of Honor"

Well, and I think they don't double their profit, they triple... the
Baen Books Paperback Version of "At All Costs" costs 6,49 Euro... both
German Versions together are 18,90 Euro...

And "The Shadows Of Saganami" aren't - as far as I know - out in a
German Version and doesn't appear in the David Weber-Books-List of the
publisher... but "Crown of the Slaves" is, luckily, because you
wouldn't understand a LOT of "At all costs" if you wouldn't know the
book... and after all I heard about "Shadows of Saganami", it's the
same with the whole Talbott-Cluster-Plot of "War of Honor"...

"At All Costs" is the most recent book published in the main Honor
Harrington series (there are two adjacent series, "Crown of Slaves"
and "Shadow of Saganami", each with a sinble book; and there is a set
of anthologies; but they are all less recent than "At All Costs").

The English version of "At All Costs" ends with a battle at
Manticore that destroys Home Fleet; Honor's fleet is redesignated
"Home Fleet" at the very end. The deaths occur earlier.

It looks like the german publisher decided to split "At All Costs"
into two books and sell it separately, thus nearly doubling their
profit. Not unheard of. And since the original book is 800+ pages
long, perhaps not surprising.

Ein neuer Krieg/Honor's Krieg --> War of Hoor in two parts

Um jeden Preis/Auf Biegen und Brechen ---> At all costs.

http://baencd.thefithimperim.com/ has all Baen CD-Rom
editions. The one for At all Costs contains all Harrington
Novels and Anthologies as EBooks.

Shadows of Saganami is scheduled as next German book.

Decembaer 2007: Davis Weber ~ Der Schatten von Saganami
(Honor Harrington)
Februar 2008: David Weber ~ An Bord der Hexapuma (Honor
Harrington)

The english sequel for Crown of Slaves and Shadows of
Saganami are scheduled for Winter 2007/2008 also

They have additional costs

1. the right to publish the book
2. the cost of the translation

And the costs have to be gained with a lot of less books
than the english ones. The Baen Paperbacks are reprints.
The books are first published as Hardcover.

A speciality are the ARC versions (EBooks apearing before
the official release of the hardcover to especially high
prices).
