Norton Murphy finished his journey this morning after
a long, slow slide into the oblivion of Alzheimers. He
was only 76, which is considered young for his condition.
He survived prostrate cancer, and a carcinoid melanoma
which was expected to kill him within two years over 7 years
ago. His blood pressure dropped so precipitously last
February that we were certain it was the end, yet he was
up and cheerful within a week. He had the grace to wait
until we had returned from our vacation, and went peacefully
home in his sleep.

I am too relieved for grief, yet. Alzheimer's is a terrible
condition which stole my father from me, and I am grateful
that his end came without the terrible pain of dehydration
and starvation which can mark the end of life in this condition.

*hugs* I'm so sorry, but thankful that his passing was peaceful.

My sincerest condolences and prayers for you and yours as you
face life without Dad. Although, from my understanding of
Alzheimers, you've already been living that way for a while.

If you ever need someone to listen, you've got my info...

AMEN sister! Mom's journey took 10-15 years and, despite her grace
throughout, was an extreme relief when it ended.

Give yourself time. <many many hugs>
