Post subject: Damage from protective library jackets?
Archived from groups: rec>collecting>books (more info?)

Greetings all:

I know we're supposed to protect dust wrappers with protective covers,
which I do religiously. But has anyone come across a book being
damaged by one?

I have a photo book, 'Social Graces', Larry Fink, Powerhouse, 2001.
The inside front and rear pastedowns are sort of goldish/gold-flecked
paper. Where the paper portion of the protector comes in contact with
the pastedown, the paper wrinkles and textures of the protecter have
almost photographically transferred themselves to the pastedown.

Where the pastedown meets Mylar, no discoloration. I was going tp yell
at Brodart but I see this protector is brand x, unbranded. Maybe I
bought the book that way.

In any event, anyone seen this happen before?

Regards,
Denton
