I was looking at one of my copies of THE COMEDY this evening, and
noticed that no translator was listed. It was published by Doubleday
in 1947 for the Literary Guild. The illustrations are by Umberto
Romano.

Does anyone know whose work the translation is?

I do not know, but I suggest checking the text against that
of the Heritage Press edition from 1944, which was
translated by Melville Best Anderson. The illustrators are
different (Heritage used Wm. Blake illustrations), but I
have noticed at times that the two publishers use the same
texts.
