Just to let you all know that the Rampant Lion Pub will once more open
on the evening of Thanksgiving at the Holiday Inn Timonium and will
close at some point Sunday Night or early Monday morning, depending on
the number of patrons remaining.
The menu has not yet been set.
Shiral, there will be smoked salmon, once again, although I cannot
promise from which nation it will originate.
Any special requests will be entertained although we will not promise
to fill all of them.
There will be margaritas and 12 year old MacAllan available, diet cola,
seltzer, sangria, and some of the white muscat kosher wine the pub is
famous for.
Plenty of food will also be available
I do need to have a count of those attending to get an idea of the
amount of food needed.
If you have not attended Darkover before or not stopped by the pub,
remember all are welcome but I will need to know that you are a Deryni
fan if I do not know you by sight!
Once again the pub will have two rooms with the main party room being
smoke free. I do not know the room number as yet but it will be on the
fourth floor. I will post the room number under the name RLP on the
message sheet (since it is not open to all convention attendees but
only Deryni fans, Michaelines, or friends of the propriatesses I will
not write the name out. You can also get the room number from other
deryni fans! >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

Yeah, I can live with that. And talk about genetics!

Aynslie,
Hi.
My roommate and I host a room party for Deryni and other fans of
Katherine Kurtz. We supply the room and main food and the serving ware
and such. The people who hang out usually add to the larder. The
party starts Thanksgiving, if anyone is around (we arrive Wednesday
afternoon/evening).
The party has been christened the Rampant Lion Pub.
All Deryni/Adept fans are invited, although I do ask for a
notification if I do not know you or you haven't been around before.
The door is usually semi closed to keep out tourists and mouchers or
party crashers. You would know the pub is open if the door behind the
red banner with the, naturally, yellow rampant lion is ajar. Since we
have better food than the Con Suite, we do need to keep out the
tourists! Also, if you do not look of legal age we will ask you since
we usually have wine and harder beverages available, and sometimes mead
if the meadmaster has any available.
Have I answered your questions? Or do you have any others? We often
have a smaller party at other cons but at Darkover we go all out! >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

Dear Aynslie,
> For those of us who haven't been around for this event in previous years,
> could you explain what this is all about? Thanks.
They have a wonderful party -- it's a room party at Darkover Con. It is
absolutely amazing. The food is incredible --there was that amazing
bread that I taste-tested and came back for lots more. There was an
entire turkey with all the fixings. There were more and different kinds
of cheeses and crackers and breads and munchies than I have ever seen.
There were times last year when I couldn't get out to a restaurant -- or
no one was available to go with me -- and so I went to the Rampant Lion
and got to hang around with other Deryni fans and Adept fans who see
nothing wrong in gossiping about imaginary characters and their lives.
Yes, Pat, Frank and I are planning to attend. I dunno how much time
he'll spend at the Rampant Lion, but I expect to not be sick this year
and have enough of a voice to be able to actually talk to people this
year! This is what happens when the school library is actually on
the top floor and the Library Media Teacher gets to see the sunlight,
rather than being stuck in some basement, which is where elementary
school libraries usually are...
*************
blessed be, Julianne >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

I'm planning to attend, Pat. I'll bring something to contribute to
the Rampant Lion Pub, too. We'll miss you, Kristy!
Speaking of Darkover, has anything specific been planned? I'm
assuming the memorial for Kim will be part of the Michaeline Mass,
right?
Has anything been planned for Sunday? I know some years those of us
who have stayed Sunday night have attended a movie or something. I'm
only asking because this year I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to
stay Sunday but I would make sure to stay if any of the Kim stuff was
that night. I'm assuming it isn't because a lot of people are gone by
then, though.

Susan,
I believe the Kim memorial will be at the Michaeline Mass on Sunday
morning.
No one has discussed doing anything Sunday afternoon, evening.
We will certainly post that here also, though. >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

done! *evil grin*)

Just a reminder folks that we would like an idea of how many people to
expect this year at the Rampant Lion. We know that Julianne and Frank
are coming and I imagine we can count on Shiral and Susan.
Also any special requests? My special fruitcake will not have any nuts
or nut products in it. I am planning on a low sugar cookie also.
Can't promise that any special requests will be fulfilled but we will
see what we can do. >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

Time is getting short folks, please let me know if you are planning to
stop by the Rampant Lion at Darkover this year. I know about a few
people who are coming and a couple of regulars who won't make it. The
Pub Mistresses need to secure the food so we do not run short. We will
have Sangria, Margarhitas, and diet soda so we need someone to bring
regular soda and if someone who is driving could kindly bring a cooler
it would be appreciated.
Also, if you have any suggestions for items for the pub, that you can't
bring yourself, please let us know. No promises but if it is possible
we will provide it.
Any nut allergies out there? So I know what to keep segregated from
other foods. There will be NO nuts in the fruit cake or any of the
breads. >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |

Spiral cut ham (or other ham)
cheeses
olives
pickles
samosas
salami
pepperoni
not sure what else -- will depend on what interests us since no one has
suggested anything, within reason. >> Stay informed about: Darkover 2005 |
