Post subject: David Day question

I was wondering how David Day ever got published in the first place.
Didn't anyone try to stop him? I did a brief Google search, and read
several threads but did not find the answer to this particular
question. If this is answered elsewhere, my apologies for bringing it
up.

Yes, that is exactly what I meant. To hear some tell it, the estate
is some kind of all powerful entity that won't let anyone do anything,
so I wondered how <mega sarcasm>the great scholar David Day</mega
sarcasm> got under their radar, so to speak.

Because, when he first published his books, there was no Tolkien Estate --
JRR was still alive and well back then.

Ah! thank you. I didn't know Day had been around that long. Did JRRT
know about him, and if so, what did he think of his stuff?
