The franchise was ruined the day some genius out there decided to make
Hellraiser 3 despite the fact that all the Cenobites were killed,
including Pinhead, in part 2. Hellraiser changed from a pair of
intelligent, somewhat original films to more of the same old garbage
we've had from the Friday the 13th etc... series all these years.

Unfortunately Barker sold the rights to Hellraiser (I believe it was
in order for him to direct the first film he had to sell the rights to
it). Meaning regardless of what Barker wants, the movie studio can
continue to make Hellraiser 9, 10, 11, etc... even if he's written a
story killing him off.

Barker says a lot of things that he never does. Remember the Third
book of the Art? I'll believe this stuff about a new Books of Blood
like collection when I have it in my hands. Considering he's written
nothing but duds for over 10 years now I'll certainly be happy to see
him return to his roots and write stuff similar in style to his early
work.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
