Spoilers ahead...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Finished it last night. I enjoyed it, but with some reserves. I agree
with its message in spite of it being a tad too preachy. I'm all for love,
understanding and acceptance, but, unfortunately, we live in a world that
doesn't always follow those rules. I'm sure some try hard, as I do, but
acceading to this ultimate happiness for oneself and others is one heck of a
job. Just trying to get by day to day is hard enough... Where is "my"
canine when I need one.
Believe me, I'm all for Dean's narrative style, but I sometimes wish he
could be less wordy when he incorporates suspense. In ODAFH, for instance,
the last 100 pages needed to be tighter. I waited 580 pages for this
final showdown, it's time to accelerate the pace which, sadly, wasn't really
granted. Oh, it still worked, but less effectively.
I had a ball with all of his characters, once again. The one of Leilina
(sp?) especially. What a funny trooper. The one of Mickey sort of reminded
me of myself, which may explain my reservation about the novel's message.
Again, I'm not saying it's an uninspiring one. Au contraire. It as
important as anything out there, but a tough one nonetheless. How can
anyone really achieve this inner peace when violence (all forms) takes so
much center stage.
All in all, a very good book with a very important if a bit unrealistic
message. 4 stars.

I can't have liked it all that much, because I can't remember a single thing
about this book. Might have to re-read this one too.

WOW! 4 stars!!! I thought the book was a lark. Leilani was a tad too
precious for me, but she did deal with a lot. It wouldn't rate in my top
circle, but I wasn't sorry I read it.

Leliani was a fun character to read about, as was Regina, Einstein,
Bart, Thomas(the Bad Place one), Chris, etc. Not in trouble enough,
they all have some sort of handicap which also inhibits their ability
to function as others do. But never fear, Koontz is here! I liked this
book more than most of his.

I think so I really liked her
Chrissie (?) in Midnight wasn't 'damadged' in anyway she's the only normal
child in Koontz.
