Post subject: [A] for Duke Vassenego
Archived from groups: alt>books>pratchett (more info?)

In demonology, one of the Princes of Hell is called Vassago. He is (and
I quote MacGregor Mathers) "...of a Good Nature, and his office is to
declare things Past and to Come, and to discover all things Hid or Lost.
And he governeth 26 Legions of Spirits..."
Not quite the same office as Duke Vassenego, in Eric, but I would not be
surprised if he were the inspiration for said Duke's name.
