Dumb question from an Asimov newbie:

I am interested in reading Asimov's "Foundation" series. I know that
a few years ago some prequels were written by Greg Bear, Gregory
Benford, and David Brin. My question is this: In what order should I
read all the various novels? Should I start with the aforementioned
prequels? Or should I start with "Foundation" itself, then read the
rest of the originals?

Also, is there any guide out there that helps explain the Foundation
universe to the newbie, similar to what the Dune Encyclopedia does for
the Dune universe? (Although it must be said that the Dune
Encyclopedia isn't really considered "canon", it is somewhat helpful.)

I apologize for my ignorance. I really am interested in exploring
Asimov's books!

Thanks in advance for any/all information! Surprised)

I rec. reading in order written, else you may not be surprised as later books
refer to earlier written plots. Later, read in order of time in story. That
tis the other basic alternative, but I rec. not to do tthis first time.

Not a dumb question at all, considering the amount and complexity of the
subject matter.
