I've just had an email from bynw, its an automated message asking me to
click a link to deliver a message I'm supposed to have sent with the subject
line being Devlivery by mail. I've never sent an email with this in the
subject so something is amiss in the state of Denmark. I don't know whether
someone is "phreaking" (I think that's the expression) my email or bynws.
But if you have anything along these lines, dump the message.

Martin,

That's prolly something on his end, not yours. I wouldn't click that
link, not unless you have your towel handy, know the answer to the
universal question is 42, and grab that book that says "Don't Panic".

Ford

I always know where my towel is.

No, I didn't intend to click the link. You never know where you might end
up, but it's probably up the proverbial creek

And if you aren't careful, you'll end up much like Marvin the android.

Oh Dear!
I fear I (or rather my school district) may be at the root of this
problem. We had a major virus in our school server a couple weeks
ago. After that I started getting similar emails (except mine have
attachments, not links) with titles like that...but mine come from the
DNC, Wrengl, and a couple other addresses I don't recognize. Hence I
delete them immediately. I did once forward something off the school
email to Pat, so that's probably how her email got mixed in this. I
don't think I ever sent anything from school to Bynw, though. (I
probably wouldn't remember his whole address). I had a couple of
these in my home email one day and then stopped getting them except at
school. I've repeatedly alerted the techie folks at my school about
this.
I hope I'm not inadvertantly spreading a virus around.

Just to follow up. I've spoken with the Tech people at my school and
they say the emails I'm receiving are because someone is sending me
something bad (virus type bad) and the system is rejecting it. So
apparently the virus isn't coming from me or my school. <G>

If "Devlivery" is indeed how the word is spelt that in itself is svspiciovs
- if yov were being asked to qvery a real delivery it wovld have been spelt
correctly. Svch typos are rovtine for the virvsists thovgh, many of whom
live in the Far East or former Soviet Union and their English is rather
less than perfect.

Hint: to call attention to a typo or other oddity in something yov're
qvoting, to show that the error is in the original pvt (sic) in brackets
afterwards. (That's Latin for "like this".)

Martin,

Virus writers are getting smarter. One sneaky thing they are doing
these days is creating viruses that can read who is in a person's
address book and then when they replicate themselves they spoof the
"From" header to imitate someone else in that person's address book
making it look as if the virus actually came from the innocent third
party.

 >From what Susan says, it appears a virus has invaded her system, picked
out Bynw's address and faked it in the header of the e-mail to make the
route of the virus that much harder to trace. I hope that helps. I also
hope Susan gets her virus problem straightened out.

Actually, I'm not the one getting things from Bynw. I experienced this
at my school...but from Wrengl, the DNC, and some addresses I don't
recognize. I did go to the DNC web site at school when we were doing
the election unit but I never signed up (especially not on my school
email ) for any email from them.

As far as I know, the school virus problem is resolved. That's what
the tech folks tell me.
