The ionising EM field that Xorn would create to leave the rooms parkling
fresh would though.... It might reek of ozone, but not Magneto...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Excalibur #2 |

I get that, and I like the Juggernaut better as a good guy, anyway. I liked
Magneto as a good guy, too, but I liked him better in UXM #275 and X-Men
#1-3. The real problem stems with the inability of today's writers to
create villains with any great staying power. I don't know why this is the
case, but I can't remember the last time a really great X-Men villain was
introduced. Bastion had potential, I suppose. Cassandra Nova was very
cool, but I can't see her being used too much. It's not just the X-Men,
either.

Magneto, as originally created, is about as typical as you can get. He
only becomes particularly interesting when Claremont gives him a
coherent philosophy - but that was around 15 years after his debut.

In Claremont's Xtreme book. And they really didn't explain, just gave it a hand-waving
"Masque did it to me w/o m permission and I hated it but now I love it" liner.
I thought it was very arbitrary, and her appearance here is very arbitrary as well. Is
there any signifiance in having _her_ here?

I dug the development of him in X-MEN FOREVER (which was promptly
ignored) and the threat he presented immediately post OPERATION ZERO

I thought that was just for the tentacles. As for Callisto's mutant power,
I've never had the first clue what it was supposed to be, and I've read most
of her appearances. I'm sure it's explicitly stated somewhere, but I never
noticed it until she reappeared recently.

I think the OHOTMUDE lists her as having enhanced senses and reflexes,
basically what it takes to make her a good hunter and fighter. >> Stay informed about: Excalibur #2 |

Also ignored, unfortunately. And I expect that he'll eventually go back to
being a bad guy from where he is now, which is a shame.

Well, like I mentioned the the handbook said supersenses.
