Post subject: Excerpt: New Study on Guilt-Free Parenting
Archived from groups: alt>books>reviews, others (more info?)

I have permission from Amacom Books to distribute an
excerpt from "Mommy Guilt: Learn to Worry Less, Focus on
What Matters Most, and Raise Happier Kids." The book is
based on an elaborate survey into parenting that you may
have already heard about in which two-thirds of parents
expressed feelings of guilt about their parenting skills.

The primary source of guilt is yelling at the kids.
Therefore, the excerpt we're distributing is the chapter on
"Guilt-Free Yelling," complete with alternative strategies
for changing your kids' behavior and ways to not feel so
bad when you just have to yell.

Of course, there are many more issues weighing on moms. For
moms who work outside the home, the biggest source of guilt
is spending too much time at work. Most of the guilt
triggers are small, daily annoyances that are unavoidable
for parents: not having enough time for your spouse;
feeling poorly about the cleanliness of your house; feeling
badly about what your kids eat; concerns about fairness
between siblings....

"Mommy Guilt" is bursting with intelligent ideas for
managing these day-to-day challenges without the feelings
of guilt that haunt so many moms. It offers great tip
sheets such as a grid to help assign age-appropriate chores
to children and tips for a smoother morning routine. But
first, let's deal with all that yelling!

To get the excerpt from "Mommy Guilt," please send
mailto:excerpts@authorviews.com with the subject line
"Guilt-Free Yelling" and I will reply with the text -- and
*only* the text -- NO file attachments or opt-in mailing
list jive. Thanks and good luck with the kids!
