With this recent conversation about how "Time out of Joint" was forced a
finish, I thought I'd mention "Eye in the Sky" (which I just finished
reading for the first time). To me, it seems that PKD was only intending to
do the first universe, or at least not intending to do the last couple. It
just loses momentum, the universes get shorter and it ends in a sort of
unsatisfying way.

Any other opinions? Apart from what seemed to be him rushing throught he
last couple, it was really quite a good book, I thought.

Well, once the characters figure out what's happening, there's not much
of a surprise left. When some of the characters were driving home after
escaping one of the universes (the second?) and see a cow with underwear
on, there's not a sense of urgency.
This is one novel I'd like to see turned into a movie; at least now
ILM could make the house eating our heroes look realistic. And the background
plot ("Communists") could be updated easily ("Al-Qaeda"). And Edie McClurg
would _have_ to play the woman who doesn't like nasty stuff.
