Hi guys,

I was watching BATTLEGROUND a 1949 war movie last night set on the German
front towards the end of the war.

One of the characters says, "Go tell him to take a flying leap at a rolling
donut".

Well clearly the F word becomes leap because of '49 movie mores but I guess
it means that Vonnegut's line was a pretty popular one amongst US soldiers
in that part of the war.

Worth noting that that picture, "Battleground" was specifically about the
Battle of the Bulge, which was Kurt's battle.

That screenplay, btw, won the Oscar that year for writer Robert Pirosh, who
also co-wrote "A Night at the Opera" and "A Day at the Races" for the Marx
Bros. I interviewed Pirosh for my Marx Bros. docu and saw his "Battleground"
Oscar in his study.
