Posting-Frequency: ~4 days (FAQs posted monthly)

Welcome to the Tolkien newsgroups! Our FAQs can be found at:

http://tolkien.slimy.com/

Even if you haven't read all of /The Hobbit/ and /The Lord of the
Rings/, you are welcome here, but be careful! Spoilers for the
stories can be anywhere, even in the subject line of a message.

To help you join our community as comfortably as possible, we do ask
that you read our Frequently Asked Questions lists before posting.
The FAQs discuss proper "netiquette" for participating in discussions
here, and also introduce the basics of our most frequent debates (the
main Meta-FAQ page lists the most "important" questions in bold).

Once again, welcome! We look forward to your participation.

*sarcasm*
Well, I don't see it mentioned in the FAQ, so it must not be true.

Um. Have UFATS, or whatever it is called, taken over the newsgroup? Either
my news-server is dropping lots of posts, or I'm only getting the stuf from
the jellyfish, the balrog, and the others, whose nature escsapes me. Smile

They do seem to be dominating numerically these days.

My unsolicited advice: Wait it out.

The children will get bored and go play in another sandbox.

the FAQ is the true guide to the thought of tolkien; but tolkien isn't
always the best guide to middle-earth. though the FAQ is still vastly
better than the BUQ. i tried reading the latter yesterday. what
drivel! "the other day, while examining anglo-saxon papers, i sneezed
and created the world." !!! tolkien never wrote such rubbish.

Revisionist lies! Tolkien never sneezed in his life. He did wrote that
he could cough up better worlds then C.S. Lewis, but never that he had.
Typical Faqqist behaviour - when will you stop trying to make up new
truths by twisting Tolkien's words and taking quotes out of context??
BUQ is the truth.
