Yesterday I happened across the newly published (in the US) _The Shadow of
the Wind_ (o.t. _La Sombra del Viento_), by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Apparently
it was a bestseller in Spain and throughout Europe, and it has gotten the
inevitable comparisons to _The Name of the Rose_ and _The Club Dumas_.
I'm looking forward to reading it (I'm in the middle of Gaddis's _JR_ at
the moment), and I was wondering if anyone had already finished and had an
opinion to offer.

I thought that discussion of book content was OFF TOPIC and inappropriate in
this forum!
"This group would NOT include For Sale or Wanted To Buy postings, those
being handled
nicely in rec.arts.books.marketplace and (to a lesser extent) in
rec.collecting.
Nor would it include discussion of content, that being reserved for
rec.arts.books."

Then I suppose it would be okay to discuss your reply, which, like most of
your RCB posts, is untainted by any detectable content.

Pointing out the terms of the charter of this NG is certainly acceptable.
Your spam post was not.

All did was post a simple FYI & query about a new novel related to
antiquarian books & the book trade--and the subject of bibliomysteries has
been discussed repeatedly & enthusiastically in this group. But you jump
down my throat like I'm some clueless newbie pimping my eBay auctions or
disseminating my eccentric opinions on the Australian rail system.
Are you off your meds this week, Bob? Or is there some other reason you
decided to pick on me out of the blue?

You're right, of course. What was I thinking? You're a jerk to everybody.
I might just as well have shaken my fist at a raincloud for getting me wet.

Can't you just admit you were wrong and posted off-topic for this NG without
hurling invective?
Nah, what was I thinking?
You clearly are too small a person for that.
Or maybe just too stupid.
