I'm writing up a list of (almost) everyone born before 1930 so I can announce
the more famous ones here as they hit certain ages. Just thought I'd mention a
few even though I'm only 1/8 through writing it, roughly.
Those who turned 100 this year: Phyllis Whitney("Mystery of the Green Cat").
Turned 95: Jeannette Eyerly, ("Someone to Love Me," "Angel Baker, Thief," "He's
My Baby Now," "See Dave Run," & "A Girl Like Me") & Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
("Cheaper by the Dozen").
Turned 90: Scott Corbett ("Trick" series) and Elizabeth Janeway ("The
Vikings").
Turned 85: Marcia Brown("Stone Soup"), Madeleine L'Engle, and Helen Doss ("The
Family Nobody Wanted").
Turned 80: Jean Merrill ("Shan's Lucky Knife") and the two Berenstains!
Turned 75: Maya Angelou, Betsy Byars, and Maurice Sendak.
And to my astonishment, after 50 years or so of fame, Pauline Baynes and Joan
Walsh Anglund are still with us!
Lenona.
